Our Greenhouse volunteers have been working almost non-stop since May to bring you a wide assortment of plants. This year we are offering several native milkweeds, such as Antelope Horn, Whorled, Green, Common, Showy and Aquatic. These are mature plants that have been growing for at least two seasons. In addition, we also have Giant, Balloon, and Tropical Milkweed.
Other Butterfly host plants include pipevine plants for the Pipevine Swallowtails and Passionflower, Passiflora incarnata, for the Gulf Fritillary.
There are plenty of nectar plants to choose from. Butterflies and hummingbirds swirl around the Pride of Barbados, and bumblebees disappear into the purple trumpet shaped flowers of the Mercer Blue Thurnbergia searching for nectar.
Texas Superstars offered include Henry Duelberg Salvia, Mexican Blue Sage, Turk’s Cap, Yellow Butterfly Vine, Duranta (Brazilian Sky Flower), Firebush (Hamelia patens), and Gold Star Esperanza.
Check out our Gingers and Native plants. Popcorn Senna smells just like buttered popcorn.
Planning a fall vegetable garden? We have Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Kale and must have, fall tomatoes.
